"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

There are many opportunities to serve at Emmanuel.  Churchwide missions include Alcoholics Anonymous, Wilmer Hall, The Food Bank and Christian Care Ministries.  There are also several groups at Emmanuel, listed below, whose missions are to serve God and others.

Altar Guild
Members of the Altar Guild care for the altar vessels, linens and vestments, both for regular and special services.   They also make arrangements for altar flowers, to include flowers donated in memory of a person or event such as poinsettias at Christmas and lilies at Easter used to adorn the church.  Serving on the altar guild provides the participant with an opportunity to serve God and learn about the history and symbols of the Episcopalian faith.

Flower Guild

The Flower Guild is made up of six members who rotate arranging the flowers or greenery for the altar and the narthex.  Parishioners sign up to provide the flowers in memory or thanksgiving, and make a suggested donation.  The guild then arranges the flowers leaving a portion of the donated money to create a fund to pay for flowers sent to members who are hospitalized or have deaths in their families.

If you would like to serve on the Flower Guild, contact Jan Neal at jboydneal@charter.net

Christ has no body here on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours, yours are the eyes through which to look at Christ's compassion for the world, yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good, and yours are the hands with which he is to bless us now.
